I second Durarara. It sounds pretty freaking lame if you just read the summary (headless motorcycle-riding Irish fairy wut), but it's rated pretty damn well, and the story (and characters) are awesome.
I would say, hey, let's watch Baccano. Except, the first episode makes you want to fall asleep, and the rest are probably not school appropriate.
